I was sent a link recently about a 4yr old cancer patient who needs USD350K to get to New York to increase her chances of survival from 20% to 50%. As I browsed through her site, viewing her videos… tons of thoughts and fear rushed through. Just 3 ft away, my 2 daughters (3 and 5) lay asleep. Just 1 cm away, Nevan sleeps peacefully. I’m blessed.
Hubby and I discussed and within minutes, he made the decision to pledge the profits of his wedding jobs to Charmaine. So proud of him! As I tossed through the night, I decided that though the proceeds from BrownieAddict will be small, it’ll still help Charmaine and her family through this difficult time.
Sooo.. an event was set up on facebook last night and sent to all my friends, an sms was sent to those who were not on facebook this morning. Within a day, I’ve sold 10 brownies. I’m hopeful that as we move along in the month of July, the orders will come in.
I’ve also roped in Nic to draw a thank you card to stick onto the box of brownies. I wanted her to grow up counting her blessings and extending her blessings to others who were less fortunate.
So I hope you’ll help too. $30 for 1 brownie cake - either Triple Choc or Macademia Nuts. Please help.

This is the reason why this web site exists. Why do I call my little haven Brownie Addict? Well, that’s the word came that up most with people begging me to stop making them anymore brownie, cause they were so addicted to my brownie they could not stop opening that little box and telling themselves “Okay one last one!” or sneaking pieces out of the box before it can reach the party or like in my brother-in-law’s case, scolded for eating the brownies and “snatching” with the other family members.

This year Caleb (my nephew) was very much into being a soldier.. I guess got rubbed off cos his daddy kept getting recalled for Reservist (yup.. “lucky” man and poor preggy sis). As usual, we were cracking our heads over the choice of cake to use. Wanted to use the carrot cake but since we fed the same crowd that, just 1 week ago during sis’ birthday, we fell back on Tiramisu. Why? Cos the use of the cocoa dusting on top of the cake complemented greatly with my battlefield concept! Now.. I must have been insane to even take this path and till last nite was still asking myself.. do i want to do a switch? Due to the texture of my tiramisu, I was so so so afraid the soldiers would quicksand into the cake before we got to the cake cutting! A few men collapsed when we were driving over to the party cos hubby went over humps “bumpity bump” with me shrieking “eh! slow down! another hump!” ! We survived the ride! Wasn’t as bad as I thought but it sure caused me much much undue stress and tons of prayers (God wanted me to pray more?? hehe)..! Would have been much better with the carrot cake…
Moist, fluffy, soft, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting! Strands of real carrots, plump rum-filled raisins, pineapples and macademia nuts (well I deviated from the usual walnuts cos they tend to be bitter), nicely spiced with cinnamon.
I was thinking what theme for a bunch of ladies celebrating their birthday in the month of May. And I thought of what birthday present I would have liked. With 3 kids, the idea of a beach resort was high on the list. Believe or not, I’ve never been to Koh Samui or Langkawi, cos hubby is not a beach person so I’ll feel it’s a waste of money to go to a beach resort and do nothing…. So I decided to send these ladies to a beach holiday lazing on the beach, buried in a sand bath spa, windsurfing the waves, amidst cabanas and coconut trees. How can we also forget our delish belgian sea shells! Ooos and aahhs were heard from the delighted ladies when the cake was unveiled. A rich, moist chocolate cake buried in chocolate frosting!
Chewy chewy chewy with the slight crunch! Delicious Oatmal Raisin cookies that leaves you craving for more. Be sure to keep the cookie tin close under your watchful eyes. Speaking from experience because cookie thieves are always sneaking up on my cookie tin when I am on conference calls. haha
Fluffy moist banana muffins! My gals and colleagues sweep these clean. Psst… and there’s brandy in these too! I think my hubby is going to send me off to Alkie Anon soon! haha
Banana falls into the category of fruits that go really well with chocolate, amongst others like strawberries, raspberries.. well basically any berries for that matter.
Soooo… here’s BrownieAddict’s Go Bananas Brownie with sweet ripe “Ang Bak Jio” slices in the middle. Marital bliss with the crisp top and chewy brownie base!
HH working overseas wanted to surprise his wife with a Tiramisu on her birthday. But the trouble was they had kids at home and his own 14month old baby girl, who will definitely want a piece of the cake. I totally understand.. I still have my 2 girls coming to the table for bites off our plates (didi is only 4 months old.. but with his appetite, I’m sure in no time!) . And nothing can restrain them when it comes to cake!
So I decided to specially do up non-alcoholic versions of the Tiramisu soaked in chocolate milk (so they won’t suspect anything thinking it’s the same as Mummy’s Bailey’s - same colour heh) and instead of cocoa powder, which isn’t suitable for them as well, I’ve used colourful hundreds and millions as topping.
And the Verdict : The kids loved it! Actually, myself too!
What is Valentine’s Day without bright red cream and a pretty organza ribbon? Can give Mrs Fields a run for their money.
HL called me and asked if I could make a raspberry brownie for her. I’ve never done it before but since she says her bf loves raspberries, I decided to do her a favour. I’ve never been much of a raspberry fan other than the Magnolia raspberry swirl vanilla ice cream that the ice cream man sells (my fav!). Personally, you have to love raspberry to like this brownie. It was slightly sour but on seconds, the sweet-sour combination was quite nice actually.
Well, when I checked back with HL, she said her bf finished the entire heart shape brownie on his own on the same day! Amazing cos I never met a guy with a sweet tooth before! : )
My loyal fans call these pineapple balls because of their shapes. These came from growing up with my mum’s pineapple tarts which every year, friends of hers would eagerly await her giveaways. It’s embarassing but I love these tarts so much myself, I swipe them fresh from the oven and have to keep reminding myself to leave enough for others!
Tiramisu was never intended as a cake. It originated as an Italian dessert and best served in a dessert cup!
Made with mascarpone cheese, Savoiardi fingers soaked in espresso, brandy or Bailey’s or both! I’ve analysed and researched and experimented for the best Tiramisu cake ever cos I am a self-confessed Tiramisu freak. I’ve gone “blah” at some of the dry Tiramisu cakes I’ve had at the cafes - obviously trying to cut cost! That’s the one time they will make my money. And I swear by Brandy. No substitutes.
Now I have 2 camps who’ve tried both versions of my Tiramisu.
Camp 1 - Has sweet tooth, likes the Tiramisu to be creamier.
Camp 2 - Likes the Tiramisu to be less sweet and of a lighter texture.
Since Camp 1 members have tried the Camp 2 version without much protest, I now just make the Camp 2 version. I’ve shared a cake like this amongst 4 very extremely happy people. *Big Grin* *Hic* Well.. I’m the excessive one!
Was very happy to make these cookies for K who was giving these away as favours. YUP.. giant Chocolate chip cookies with a chocolate base - soft chewy sort. I am still working very hard towards the legendry Mrs Fields Choc Chip Cookie.. almost there la.
Best served semi-frozen. Think Ice Cream Tiramisu! Soaked with brandy and coffee, a sure winner at any Christmas Party!
Sarah picked out a piglet at a Taka fair Very decisively. No other members of the Pooh Bear family could distract her or take her away from Piglet. That was like 2 weeks before her birthday which set the entire theme for her one year old birthday party! A multi layer mango mousse cake packed with mango puree. I decided it wasn’t enough and laid mango bits on top of the mousse at every layer. Call me Kia su!
Caleb’s cake was more challenging. His requests mutated by the week from Elmo driving a convertible, to fighter planes to finally F1! Everyone loved the flags! Strawberry fresh cream cake with strawberry slices in between vanilla sponge. Don’t ask me how much this weighs..
